Description
Facewatch is a UK-based company that provides facial recognition technology for the retail industry. Their system alerts businesses in real-time when a "known offender" is detected. Images captured by CCTV are transmitted to Facewatch's cloud server, where they are converted into biometric measurements for comparison against a database of subjects of interest. Facewatch has faced multiple lawsuits over data protection breaches and grave instances of false identification. In addition to the UK, it is used by police and retailers in Brazil and Spain.
