An Autonomous System (AS) is a network, or collection of IP prefixes, operated under a single routing policy and identified by a globally unique Autonomous System Number (ASN). On Whisper Internet Directory, each AS is published at /asn/{number} as a schema.org Organization, carrying its operator name, registered country, peering ecosystem, announced prefixes, and MOAS-conflict watch — sourced from BGP routing and WHOIS data in WhisperGraph.
This page is the canonical definition of the Autonomous System type in the Whisper Internet Directory vocabulary. Every /asn entity page references it from its structured data via the additionalType field, extending the schema.org Organization base type so crawlers and LLMs can resolve the Canon-specific meaning of the entity.
