sIFR (Scalable Inman Flash Replacement) was a JavaScript and Adobe Flash-based technique that allowed web developers to display custom fonts on web pages, even if those fonts weren't installed on a user's system. By embedding text within Flash objects, sIFR enabled the use of unique typography while maintaining the text's scalability and search engine visibility. However, with the decline of Flash technology and the advent of CSS3 and web fonts, sIFR has become obsolete and is no longer in mainstream use.
